+++ Update of all TWA wagons with SAVVYs new telematics generation with highest possible certification for hazardous zones. SAVVY Inhouse-Innovation supports future-oriented digitalization in the transport sector

Another large contract for SAVVY Telematic Systems: TRANSWAGGON (TWA) is expanding its successful cooperation with the Schaffhausen-based market leader for telematics and digitalization in the logistics and chemical sectors. The contract runs for 5 years and includes equipping an additional 1500 TWA freight wagons with «SAVVY CargoTrac-ExR-M1» telematics systems. This system currently holds the highest possible certification for use in potential hazardous zones as well as LTE-Cat M1 communication for the most modern and future-proof data transmission in connection with the internet of things.
Equipped with the SAVVY® CargoTrac-ExR-M1 telematic device, approved for zone 1 (IIC) and 21 (IIIC) in compliance with Directive 2014/34/EU as well as IECEx-certified, TWA's rail freight wagons can now be used in potentially explosive atmospheres. This enables TWA to secure a competitive advantage because it can reap the benefits of high-tech telematics digitalization under the demanding conditions of different hazardous goods areas.

SAVVY telematics devices make it possible to reliably track the freight wagons in use even under difficult conditions of up to -40°Celsius. In addition, they ensure that vibrations and shocks are detected quickly, in case – for example for mutual customer ScandFibre, with whom 6,000 freight wagons have already been digitalized – the sensitive paper rolls are subject to jolts. The devices also send encrypted data about temperature travel direction, location or time and therefore any schedule deviations in real time to the cloud and/or IT environment such as the ERP system. Technical updates and configuration adjustments are wireless («over-the-air») and take place during operations.

Process digitalization brings about the greatest possible degree of workflow transparency for all logistics stakeholders and their customers. The robust, absolutely maintenance-free and flexibly configurable telematics units are highly intelligent, only triggering a notification when certain threshold values are exceeded. This makes the devices incomparably long-lasting and reliable.

Thanks to a deeper understanding of the clients' processes, SAVVY ensures more efficient and qualitatively better processses for TWA and enables them to put their company resources to optimal use.

A SAVVY product innovation makes hazardous zones accessible for TWA's logistics network:
SAVVY's business intelligence solutions serve to increase rail logistics transparency for every service provider and its customers. The solutions provide support to the entire sector to bring more freight volumes onto the rails. A key part of this puzzle is covering all logistics routes seamlessly, such as those in hazardous areas.
This is why TWA intends to equip all of its wagons with SAVVYs newest telematics device generation, the SAVVY CargoTrac-ExR-M1 , thereby offering its customers the highest possible flexibility. Freight wagons equipped with the SAVVY CargoTrac-ExR-M1 can access designated hazardous zones without any restrictions. TWA customers can therefore also enjoy the advantages of digital networks, agile management, and business process monitoring, in potentially dangerous atmospheres. The new SAVVY CargoTrac-ExR-M1 devices are very versatile and also enable wireless connections to other external sensors to monitor temperatures, pressure, filling levels or closing devices.

“Our cooperation with SAVVY is helping us take our cross-border transports, regardless of which rail company is involved, into the digitalized future. The leading, consistently reliable technologies in combination with excellent service and SAVVY's team spirit are proof to us every day that we have found the right partner.” - Helena Engstedt, Project Managerin & Sales, TWA

“We are proud of the trust that has been put in our team and our products. In cooperation with our customers, we are able to make our contribution to digitalizing the chemical and logistics sectors and to providing support into the future."" says Aida Kaeser, CEO SAVVY® Telematic Systems AG.
